The wedding dress took place a few months ahead of plans for marriage, after the news of their engagement last month, has attracted the attention of the media. A family spokesman said Smart married Matthew Gilmour, Aberdeen, Scotland, on the north shore of Oahu.

"She decided a week ago, the best way to avoid distraction, it was important to change their wedding plans and married in a ceremony outside of Utah."
The couple married in the temple in Laie, Hawaii Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in front of a small group of family members, said Thomas. The group then at a private reception and luau instead.
Ms. Smart and Mr. Gilmour has promised to marry last month and initially made plans this summer. "The bride and groom were smiling when you leave the LDS Temple," he said, noting the couple planned to go on an extended honeymoon in an undisclosed location.
"We are pleased that you are married," said his father, Ed Smart, The Salt Lake Tribune and called the ceremony "a kind of spur of a moment thing."
Once an itinerant preacher street preacher Brian David Mitchell was convicted in 2010 of kidnapping and sexual assault in 2002. He is serving a life sentence.
Ms. Smart disappearance led to a massive search in Utah. She testified for five weeks Mitchell study, called his removal "of nine months of hell."
